There are hundreds of EHR vendors out there. And my favorite, hands down, is the NextGen system. I have to admit, I am a bit biased here; I work with NextGen almost exclusively in my work. However, there’s a good reason why I do, and it’s because I believe that NextGen offers clinics and hospitals the best solution for their EHR needs.
So, what makes NextGen so great?
1. Ease of Use
NextGen is easier to use than many other systems. It’s just more intuitive, which means new users catch on faster. The check in/check out process is also much faster and more streamlined than other systems.
2. Looks Familiar
The NextGen system looks very similar to a Windows system. For users, this familiarity makes them more comfortable. Plus, the highly graphical nature of the system means that navigating tasks and operations is easy.
3. Great Customer Service
I’ve worked with many EHR vendors and systems in the past, which means I’ve spent a lot of time with the corporate trainers and IT help desk staff for each vendor. NextGen’s staff are incredibly well-trained, and their response time for help desk calls is very fast. To me, superior customer service is one of the best things about the NextGen system.
4. Highly Customizable
Would you believe that almost half of all clinics end up replacing their EHR once they get it up and running? The reason is because often, the system they chose ended up lacking an important function, or a necessary certification. So, they have to go through the stress and expense all over again.
NextGen is rare in that it’s highly customizable, which means it’s easy for clinics to create and pull specific reports. This is especially true for the check in/check out process; for instance, clinics can customize the system to do an auto-flow check in. If a patient’s records are not up to date, then the system will automatically print out any forms that need to be signed. This saves a lit bit of time throughout the day, resulting in greater productivity throughout the year. And, this is just a small example of how you can customize NextGen to fit your clinic’s needs.
Statistically, fewer clinics end up replacing their system when they go with NextGen because they can modify it to fit their needs.
Of course, you don’t have to take my word for it. KLAS Research, an independent monitoring organization, gave NextGen a performance score of 84.06, one of the highest in the industry. NextGen also has one of the highest ratings of clinic loyalty compared to other vendors, simply because they’re a great company, with a great system, staffed with intelligent people.
